Turkey demands Iraq, U.S.
to control borders
Turkey officially demanded Iraq and the United
States to control the joint borders and to prevent
gunmen from infiltrations, according to a report
issued by a Turkish daily on Sunday.
"A message was addressed to the Iraqi government
demanding the necessity of controlling the joint
borders and to prevent gunmen from infiltrations,"
the daily Turkish newspaper Hurriyet quoted a
Turkish diplomat as saying.
"The Turkish ambassador in Washington delivered a
similar message to U.S. officials," he said.
"Border preservation is a duty that must be
shouldered by both Iraq and Coalition forces," he
added.
