in a major fruit and vegetable exhibition in the
West.
The KRG’s stand showcases Kurdistan’s agricultural
potential at the World Fruit and Vegetable Expo in
London. The two-day expo, which opened today at
Excel Exhibition Centre, is one of the world's
leading exhibitions in this sector.
Fruit and vegetable suppliers from 22 countries are
exhibiting at the expo, and visitors include leading
British and international food buyers and importers.

Dr Anwar said, “Our participation in this
international show will pave the way to establish
links between our local market and the international
market. It will also be a positive step towards our
producers achieving better prices for their
products, and to a better connection between the
production line and the marketing line, which is
still in its infancy in the Kurdistan Region.”
Ms Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, the KRG High
Representative to the UK,www.ekurd.net
said, “Some of the
world’s biggest buyers and suppliers attend this
expo, so it’s important for us to be here to raise
their awareness of the Kurdistan Region’s potential
as a fruit and vegetable grower and exporter. This
is only a first step, and we hope to build on it in
future years.”
The KRG’s exhibition stand shows its potential to
become an agricultural producer and exporter, and
highlights Kurdistan’s 81 grape varieties as well as
its high quality pomegranates and apples. Kurdistan
is also suitable for growing organic fruit and
vegetables, as the use of chemicals is low.
The exhibition also gives the KRG the opportunity to
meet companies that have expertise in fruit and
vegetable packaging, storage and marketing.
The expo was opened by its special guest Mr Edward
Palmer, who is the fresh produce manager at Tesco,
the largest retailer in the UK and fourth largest in
the world.
