It is apparent that Christianity was before the rise
of Islam, it is the world's largest religion having
followers from all nations and our Kurdistan is not
away from this.
Throughout history Kurdistan Christians practiced
their religious rites without any censorship or
restrictions and there has never been a real problem
between the believers of Islam and Christianity or
other religions like Yazidis or Armenians.
Moreover; there have many hard times in history they
reached out to assist each other,www.ekurd.net
instance those Jews who
were in Kurdistan in the era of monarchy, lived in
peace and without any discrimination in their
everyday life not only in the big cities but also in
the furthermost villages. |

This was partly because
Kurds account for the very humanitarian aspect than
other things, also the Kurds themselves were
stripped from their rights and were suppressed, and
accordingly they did not allow themselves to do
injustices to other nations, religions or sects.
If sometimes there was a wrongdoing then it was a
personal behavior and had nothing to do with the
Kurdish nation's standpoint.
Recently Iraqi Christians are suffering from
suppression,www.ekurd.net
threatening and
expelling, unfortunately some Iraqi Arabic sides
have made the Kurds into a scapegoat for their
crimes, accusing the Kurds of hunting Christians
down especially in Mosul and Kirkuk which are
unfounded accusations and in sharp contrast with the
realities.
We as Kurds, government and people opened our hearts
and our doors to the displaced Christians who were
under death threats.
Those who accuse the Kurds deliberately overlook the
statements of the terrorists themselves who
repeatedly say that they want taxes (Jizya) from the
non-Muslims
If an impartial side conducts a survey for our
Christian sisters and brothers who sought protection
in Kurdistan fleeing the violence, it will become
apparent for those conscienceless people to which
extent the Kurdistan Region is safe and ready to
embrace all people with different ethnics and their
rights are pretty protected.
