2 German medical teams to
treat cardiac patients in Erbil
Erbil: Two German medical teams, specialized in
cardiac surgery, arrived on Monday in Erbil to treat
cardiac patients during a 10-day visit, the director
of the Erbil center for Cardiac Surgery said.
“The two teams consist of seven doctors specialized
in cardiac surgeries and will stay in Erbil for ten
days,” Dr. Kamel Namiq told VOI.
“Their visit came within the agreement signed last
April between Rostock and Bon universities with the
Erbil center for Cardiac Surgery,” he noted.
Kurdistan Region Parliament
discusses polygamy
Kurdistan Region Parliament held a session Monday to
discuss the Personal Status Code. At the beginning
of the session, Speaker of the Kurdistan Region
Parliament, Adnan Mufti, presented the law for
voting, and by the majority of the voters they
decided to discuss the draft law.
The committees of Human rights, endowment,
parliament legal committee, and women supporting
committee read their reports, and the lawmakers
expressed their views about the article related to
polygamy.
During the session the parliament by the majority
vote decided that the Conditional polygamy to remain
in the draft law. It is expected that on Tuesday,
Kurdistan Region Parliament to continue discussing
other articles of the draft law.
Kurdistan President Barzani
heads to U.S.
Dr. Fuad Hussein, head of Kurdistan Region
Presidency Divan stated that Kurdistan region
President Massoud Barzani headed Monday to U.S. in
response to an official invitation from American
President George W. Bush.
President Barzani is heading a high ranking
delegation includes Dr. Barham Ahmed Salih,www.ekurd.net
Roj Nouri Shawis,
Massror Barzani, Fuad Hussein, Ashti Hawrami, Falah
Mustafa and Qubad Talabani.
“President Barzani will meet American President
Bush, his deputy Dick Cheney, secretary of state
Condoleezza Rice, head of National Security Council
and a number of American officials”, Dr. Fuad added.
It is decided that President Barzani will meet also
with American senators from the Republican and
Democratic parties, as well as he and his
accompanied delegation will meet several officials
at the strategic researches centers.
Kurdistan Parliament held
meeting to discuss Personal Status Code project
Kurdistan Parliament started meeting early today to
discuss Personal Status Code project and the meeting
is going on.
Civil community organizations and women
organizations join together in front of parliament
building before starting the meeting.
The head of Khatuzin Centre for women affairs told
PUKmedia, ‘We are going to support women’s requests;
saying that we want the law to be approved according
to women’s interests.
Turkish artillery started
shelling Kurdistan region borders
Turkish artillery started again to shell several
villages on the Kurdistan region border on Sunday
night for 1 hour.
A source from the area said that last night Turkish
artillery heavily shelled Shewi,www.ekurd.net
Brindar cave and Kara
villages in Nerwa area and Kamji and Shamki villages
in Rekan area in Deraluk sub- district in Amedi
district.
The causalities and damages of the shelling are
unknown, the source added.
