29 Kurdish Students Headed to Netherlands to get
Master and PHD Degrees
On Monday, 29 Kurdish students are heading to
Netherlands to get master and PHD degrees. Bakir
Mustafa, Head of the 3rd PUK Organizational Office
in Erbil, met today with the Dutch Consul in Erbil,
Khidir Awlla, along with other officials in the
Dutch Consulate in Erbil. The meeting was intended
to further strengthen the joint cooperation and
mutual understanding. During the meeting, Khidir
Awlla said that the office of Dutch Consulate will
be officially inaugurated in the coming days.
The consulate has so far provided Kurdish students
with several opportunities to study abroad.
“So far we could provide 29 scholarship seats for
the Kurdish students and other employees in the KGR
ministries to study abroad,” Khidir told PUKmedia,
affirming that his consulate seeks providing further
opportunities for Kurdish students to study in the
European countries.
Today, after completing the follow-up procedures,
the students headed to Netherlands.
As Khidir said, the Dutch consulate in Erbil has
also facilitated the activities of those Kurdish
women that advocate for the women rights in the
region through providing a building for their
activities. In addition, the consulate provided
another building for the children education affairs.
“Netherland is always against the forced deportation
of the asylum seekers. We, as Dutch of Kurdish
origin, have played a vital role in order not to let
the Kurdish asylum seekers be forcefully deported,”
Khidir said.
Khidir Awlla informed PUKmedia that a delegation
from the Dutch government is expected to pay a visit
to Kurdistan region in August to reinforce economic
and political relations between Kurdistan region and
Netherlands. On his part, Bakir Mustafa, appreciated
the work and activities of Dutch Consulate in Erbil,
expecting them to play an active role in
rehabilitating the economy of Kurdistan region. He
also affirmed PUK support for any possible
opportunities offered by the consulate to serve the
Kurdish people.
PUK and Arab Tribes of Jalawla Signed MoU to
Defuse Tensions
The active member of PUK Political Bureau, Mala
Bakhtiyar, met Monday in Sulaimaniyah with the
representatives of Karwi, Liheb, Hiyalat, Azzrawi,
Bayati, Jibur and Bajalan tribes of Jalawla and
Saadiya areas.
During the meeting, both sides signed a memorandum
of understanding in an effort to defuse the tensions
and working out the political and economic concerns.
According to the memorandum, the Arab tribes of
those areas expressed their support for annexing
their areas to the administration of Kurdistan
Regional Government (KRG) while KRG and PUK are
committed to pursue their demands including the
freedom of education curriculum in Arabic,
compensating the Arab residents that faced forced
displacement and those whose properties were
inflicted damages by the ousted Baath regime.
On his part, Mala Bakhtiyar decided to form a joint
commission including the political, official and
tribal representatives to outline in detail the plan
to pragmatically address the concerns.
Once More...Iranian Artillery Bombards Kurdistan
Region’s Border Areas
A well-informed source in Sidakan sub-district
stated exclusively to PUKmedia correspondent: "The
Iranian artillery shelled last night Lolan and Rosor
areas where Many families live. Damages are unknown
yet.”
It’s worth mentioning that the border areas in
Kurdistan region are intermittently shelled by
Iranian artillery under pretext of targeting the
PIJAK elements which is an affiliate of the PKK, the
matter which causes panic among the inhabitants of
those areas.
Dr. Barham Salih Meets Physicians and Specialists
Committee
The PUK Secretary General Deputy, Dr. Barham Ahmed
Salih met Saturday a committee of the Physicians and
Specialists in the medical field in Sulaimaniyah
province. During the meeting Salih talked about the
political situation in Iraq and Kurdistan region,
also about the services, infrastructures and medical
field in Kurdistan. “We in PUK are proud with our
achievements which are results of every one
efforts”, Salih said
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Barzan Ahmed
Kurda, Chief of Sulaimaniyah PUK Organization Center.
