Representatives of PUK and KDP Politburos Meet in
Erbil
On Monday, representatives of both the PUK and the
KDP politburos met in Erbil. PUK delegation included
Kosrat Rasul Ali, Deputy Secretary General of the
PUK and other members of the PUK politburo.
Both sides discussed the importance of the rule of
law and dealing with the issues through legal
procedures.
The outcome of the KRG PM’s recent visit to Baghdad
to deal with pending issues between the Kurdistan
region and the Iraqi federal government was another
topic of the meeting.
Sheik Mahmoud Statue Unveiled to Honor His
Struggle
On Sunday, the statue of Sheik Mahmoud was unveiled
in a ceremony in Erbil.
The ceremony was attended by the Erbil governor,
Nawzad Hadi, and other KRG and political officials.
This statue was aimed to pay tribute to Sheik
Mahmoud’s struggle as one of the eternal leaders of
the Kurdish revolutions.
During the Kosrat Rasul’s time as KRG prime minister
in mid 1990s, he unveiled the previous statue of
Sheik Mahmoud riding on a horse on the same place
which was replaced with the current one after the
recent renovation of the Square. The previous statue
was transferred and currently located in the
building of Fine Arts Institution in Erbil.
Theatrical Festival in Duhok
A theatre festival was opened Sunday in Duhok
Province under supervision of General Directorate of
Culture and Arts.
In an interview with Radio Sawa, the festival’s
Media official Shaa’ban Suleiman said “more than 70
actors, directors and critics are participating in
the festival.” “Participants are from the Region’s
Provinces, from Baghdad Dr. Haitham Ali /director,
Suha Salim /actress, Kurdish actors from Diaspora
and artistic bands from Austria and Germany. The
purpose of this festival is to gather the Iraqi
theatricals under the current circumstances to
enhance relations and exchange experiences between
the Iraqi and Foreign theatricals.”
The festival will continue for 4 days and will
include play shows, seminars and researches to
develop the Iraqi theatre.
Two Master Researches by Kurdish Students to be
Discussed at Arab Open Academy in Denmark
Two Master researches about the economic conditions
in the Kurdistan region by two Kurdish students at
the Arab Open Academy in Denmark will be discussed
in Copenhagen on July, 2008. Fields of Establishing
Industries in the Kurdistan Region Master Research
by the Kurdish student Sarkawt Mahmud Barzinji will
be discussed on July 25th.
The Role of Local and Foreign Investment in Boosting
Economy in the Kurdistan Region Master Research by
the Kurdish student Zuzan Saeed Hassan Barzinji will
be discussed on July 26th.
PUK Delegation Meets Representatives of Socialist
Party of Island
The visiting PUK delegation met today with the
representatives of Socialist Party of Island in
Athens.
The meeting, which was attended by the active member
and spokesman of PUK, Mala Bakhtiyar, was arranged
on the sideline of the ongoing 23rd congress of
Socialist International. Both parties discussed the
ways to outline joint relations, affirming to make
strong relations in the future.
