in the interest of the Kurds. "Agreement between the

be final"

BAGHDAD, — A member of Iraqi parliament,
Pishtiwan Ahmad, has strongly criticized the
[Kurdistan] Regional Government over the oil
contracts [which have been signed with foreign
companies]. Ahmed told Aso: "The oil contracts are
not in the interest of the Kurds.
They have turned many countries in the region into
enemies of the Kurds." Pishtiwan Ahmad added that
from a political and constitutional standpoint,www.ekurd.net
the oil contracts were
not good because they harmed the [Kurdistan] region
and changed public opinion about the experiment of
ruling in Kurdistan; there was a notable haste in
[signing] the contracts.
Ahmed went on to say: "Instead of [signing] the oil
contracts, the Kurdish leadership should have made
its utmost efforts for the reincorporation of the
detached areas [the ethnically disputed areas] into
Kurdistan Region." He added: "The Iraqi government
is not aware of the [content of the] contracts with
the foreign companies. It awaits the region's
delegation to Baghdad in order to discuss the issue
with them."
The parliament member expressed his optimism about
resolving the issue of oil contracts during the
regional delegation's [expected] visit to Baghdad.
He said: "It seems that the agreement between the
region and Baghdad will be final one. It will put an
end to media reports on the issue."
