The Statement of Kirkuk Syndicate of Kurdistan
Journalists on the occasion of the assassination of
the Kurdish journalist Soran Mama Hama
The
assassination
of the journalist Soran Mama Hama is another
terrifying bell, but it will never silence us.
Journalists of Kurdistan, freedom-loving people,
human rights advocates
Once more the narrow-minded cowardly and
with-filthy-past enemies of word, truth and right
committed another crime by shooting the young
journalist Soran Mama Hama proving again the fact
that they are bereft of patriotism and humanism. The
people’s court is ready for bringing them to
justice. These criminals do not have the power to
tolerate the whisper of truth. They deviously strike
their blows. Although in the past several other
journalists were assassinated in Kirkuk without
anyone raising a voice,www.ekurd.net
today another young pen
in front of his own home and in front of the eyes of
the population of Kirkuk is shot dead making his
life an award of bravery brightening the pages of
the history of journalism in this helpless city.
The ever oppressed people of Kirkuk!
We at the Kirkuk branch of the syndicate of
journalists express to the public opinion with
utmost frustration and sadness that it is impossible
for us to keep quiet about the death of our
colleague Soran Mama Hama and to surrender in the
face of cowardly threats by straw rusty-mined men of
this country.
At this point, we demand from the two dominant
parties in Kirkuk and south Kurdistan, the
consulates of multi-national forces, and the Iraqi
government to start an urgent investigation to find
the murderers of Soran Mama Hama. Otherwise,www.ekurd.net
we will seek justice in
international courts. We feel it is our duty to
raise our voice against those monsters that are
lying in darkness to strike at the patriotic
journalists of this nation and to expose this ugly
crime against democratic values and human rights.
We would like to assert again that this crime is a
terrifying bell to stop free expression and free
journalism in Kurdistan.
We all see that t in front of the eyes of parliament
and government, the law is trampled upon daily by
the gangsters of corruption and lawlessness who are
making our wounds deeper and deeper and are
hindering the ground-breaking track of those
courageous pens that have never betrayed this
wounded homeland.
Curse upon those who break the pens and press the
triggers of guns!
Glory and blessing to the martyred journalist Soran
Mama Hama and all the martyrs of thought and pen.
