Kurdish Peshmarga forces to
be reorganized: Aknews com
The KRG Peshmarga minister says that following the
reorganization of the ministry, no Peshmarga force
would be left outside the jurisdiction of the
ministry. The minister, Jaafar Shiekh Mustafa, said
they rushed to organize a law for Peshmarga forces
after the two competing Peshmarga ministries were
merged earlier this year. However, he cautioned that
re-organizing the structure of the ministry can not
be done overnight, and it will likely take a few
months, Mustafa said. In 2006, the Kurdistan Region
had two competing Peshmarga ministries (one based in
Erbil and the other in Sulaimaniyah) in the fifth
cabinet. The two competing ministries were merged by
an act of parliament last April. We are working to
develop one unified system which will ensure unity
of forces, payment and general organizational
structure, said the minister. The number and
salaries of Peshmarga forces is one of the disputed
issues between Erbil and Baghdad.
Yawir: Our forces are part
of the defense system
Undersecretary of Peshmerga Ministry and the
Official Spokesperson of Kurdistan Region Guard
Forces Major General Jabbar Yawir in a statement to

Region Guard Forces and some of the Asaish forces
are in the disputed areas in Mosul since 2003 and
the Federal authorities are aware that the problems
there can only be resolved through the
implementation of Article 140 of the Iraqi
Constitution.
With regard to the presence of the Peshmerga Forces
in the dispute areas in Mosul and other areas in
Diyala, Kirkuk and Saladin provinces, Yawir said
that the fifth item of Article 121 of the Iraqi
Constitution which was voted by most of Iraqis
provided that the Peshmerga and the Asaish forces
are legal and systematic and it form with Border
Guard Forces and other forces in Kurdistan Region
part of the Iraqi Defense System that aim to protect
Iraq from the internal and external threats and to
establish the rule of law.

be spread in Kurdistan region by Autumn
In a press statement to local media channels on
Sunday June 28th, KRG minister of health Dr. Ziryan
Othman said “Swine Flu outbreak is definite as the
experts said. Swine Flu may be spread in Kurdistan
region by coming Autumn, where the experts expect
that 40%of the people in the world will be infected
with this disease.” He emphasized “we must take this
issue into consideration, because negligence and
unconcern will help in spreading the disease.” Dr.
Ziryan mentioned “diagnosing 10 case of this disease
in Iraq, including 8 cases in Kurdistan region,
means that the medical teams in the region are more
effective than the remaining parts of Iraq. These
teams managed to control all the flights that had
arrived in Kurdistan region.”
“The 8 infected citizens in Sulaimaniyah City were
treated and returned to their homes. They were
infected with the disease in the United States”, he
