Othman says that Kurdistan Region President Massoud
Barzani is able to ease tensions escalated during
the election campaign between Patriotic Union of
Kurdistan (PUK) and opposition Change Movement. He
adds that Barzani will mediate to bring the two
leaders together again, with a view to unite Kurdish
parties' discourse before they go to Baghdad.

Kurdish president, Allawi
tackle stronger bloc relations
Erbil: The president of Iraq’s Kurdistan region,
Massoud Barzani, has met with the Iraqiya List
leader, Iyad Allawi, to discuss means of
strengthening the relations between the list and the
Kurdistan Alliance (KA). Barzani has received Allawi
and his accompanying delegation to discuss means of
boosting relations between the KA and the Iraqiya
List after nearly 90% of the votes had been sorted,
according to a statement published on the web site
of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). On
Sunday (March 21) evening, Iraqi President Jalal
Talabani received in his Sulaimaniyah-based
residence Allawi, his friend and a former prime

Kurdistan Alliance List
wins a single seat in Diyala
Member of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) office in
Diyala Dler Bajalan says Kurdistan Alliance List
have gained around 49,000 votes in the governorate
so far which guarantees only a single seat. Bajalan
says hopes for the second seat are very weak due to
sudden rise in scale of votes of other partakers. He
says that they doubt the sudden rise in number of
votes of State of Law Alliance in the governorate.

Some of 1,800 complaints
have been submitted to the electoral commission
Head of Public Relation Department in the Iraqi
Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC)
Abd-al-Rahman Khalifa says some of 412 fraud
complaints have been submitted to the IHEC national
office in Baghdad about early voting process, 204 of
which are red marked, that may affect the election
results. He adds that another 436 complaints have
been submitted about the process of voting abroad,
72 of which are red marked.
The electoral commission to
take strong actions against its employees in case of
negligence
Member of Iraqi Independent High Electoral
Commission (IHEC) Sardar Abd-al-Karim says the
commission continues analyzing and studying
complaints that have been submitted so far.
Following the investigations, the commission will
bring the employees of those stations where
irregularities occurred to court. "After court
decision, the commission will deprive those
employees of the privileges and publicize their

15,000 tourists in Erbil to
celebrate Nowroz Day
Erbil: Nearly 15,000 Iraqi tourists have converged
on the province of Erbil to celebrate the Newroz
Day, which falls Sunday. 'Newroz' is the traditional
Kurdish new year, The year 2010 corresponds to the
Kurdish year 2622 (2710). All Kurds around the world
are celebrating the new year 'Newroz'. With this
festival Kurds gather into the fairgrounds mostly
outside the cities to welcome spring. Women wear
colored dresses and spangled head scarves and young
men wave flags of green, yellow and red, the colors
of the Kurdish people. They hold this festival by
lighting fire and dancing around it.
