No prior Kurdish candidacy promotion on Face book

Erbil: The Election Commission called Kurdish candidates not to start their propaganda campaigns on the Face book before the set date; otherwise they will be put to account. It added that publicity on the Face book "contravenes with the law". "Any contravention will put the candidate under responsibility and will withdraw his candidacy's trust", the Commission added.

Kurdistan Alliance denies agreement on third term for Maliki

Baghdad: Vice President of the Kurdistan Alliance bloc in the parliament, Mohsen Sadoun denied the reports that indicated to the approval of the Kurdistan


alliance on the nomination of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, for a third term. Sadoun said in a statement to the National Iraqi News that the agreement took place between the Governments of the region and the center on the outstanding problems did not include Maliki's nomination for a third term , referring that " prime minister's nomination for a third session will be decided by the Federal Court." He pointed out that the draft electoral law needs an extensive and lengthy discussion at the next stage, in order to be agreed upon by the political blocs to pass it." It is mentioned that sources refused to disclose their names pointed out, "an agreement took place between the governments of the region and the center on a third term for Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, in return of passing some broken laws several years ago, including the oil and gas law, the administrative border and the implementation of Article 140."

Nujaifi forms a new coalition and calls on Kurds to ally

Baghdad: The head of Motahedoun list in Nineveh , Ethel al-Nujaifi announced on Wednesday forming a new coalition called “Nahtha coalition “ before the formation of a local government in the province. “The new coalition includes the winning blocs in local elections in Nineveh that have taken place in 20th of last June ,” Nujaifi said at a news conference in city Mosul. He explained that the coalition includes 14 seats for winning members in local seats for "Motahedoun”, Turkmen, Shabak and the member of the National Alliance, Mohamed Ibrahim. It is worthy to say that the Kurdish brotherhood and coexistence list came in the first place with 11 seats out of 39, followed by Motahedoun list led by the parliament’s Speaker, Osama al-Nujaifi that won 8 seats and Wafa to Nineveh coalition, led by Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh al-Mutlaq by 4 seats while United Nineveh coalition won 3 seats. Nujaifi called brotherhood and coexistence list to conduct negotiations with the new coalition to reach agreements and alliances to pave the way for a new local government. Motahedoun list announced on the fifth of this month that it had reached an agreement with brotherhood and coexistence list that requires sharing the high five positions between the two blocs. It is expected for Motahedoun to occupy the post of Ninevehs’ governor while the Kurds would take presidency of the Provincial

Shwan Taha: Escape of prisoners proof of the failure of the security forces

The Kurdish member of the Iraqi parliament mentioned, that the Iraqi security forces, accusing of escape of hundreds of prisoners from the two major prisons in Iraq. And Shwan Taha announced member of the Iraqi parliament for the Kurdistan Alliance list and a member of the security committee in parliament, "that nearly 500 prisoners escaped from two biggest prisons in Baghdad, which is the great failure of the security forces and a clear indication of the lack of security and defense system's capacity to respond to terrorist operations ". It is worth mentioning, it has carried several unidentified armed groups yesterday's attack on prisons Taji and Abu Ghraib, near Baghdad, where confrontations and clashes took place between armed groups and security forces, killing 21 prisoners and wounding 25 others, in addition to the martyrdom of 15 elements of the security forces and wounded 13 others were killed six insurgents also.

Kurdish refugees in Dumez keen to return bodies of their loved ones to Syria

Duhok: The families of Syrian Kurdish refugees in Dumez camp in Kurdistan region keen on transferring the bodies of their loved ones to their country despite the high costs, while the regional government has allocated a private cemetery for those who can’t transfer them to Syria. “There is no complete available statistics for the number of Syrian Kurds who died while being in Dumez camp,” The media spokesman of Dumez camp, Salem Saeed said. He added that the deaths occur to natural causes, such as disease, heart attack, due to electric shock and road accidents. He noted that "according to our information, the deceased’s families are always keen to transfer the bodies of their loved ones to their original villages and towns that they were displaced from to be buried there”. He added that there is a cemetery allocated near Semel town (20 km) west of Dohuk for those who can’t transfer the bodies of their relatives to their hometown, to bury them in Kurdistan. According to Saeed, the cemetery includes the remains of five Syrian Kurdish refugees only. The Displacement and Migration department in Dohuk province receives Syrian refugees in Dumez camp (20 km south-west of Duhok city), which was opened in March 2004, where displaced Syrian Kurdish includes the absolute majority of the population. According to the Displacement and Migration department, the numbers of displaced people in Duhok id about 160 thousand Syrian Kurdish refugees, including 102 thousand officially registered refugees, while the others live in villages and towns of Kurdistan with relatives.
