Iraqi army soldier's protest in front of Ministry of Peshmerga in Erbil

Erbil: Dozens of Iraqi army soldiers demonstrated on Tuesday in front of the Ministry of Peshmerga of Kurdistan Regional Government in Erbil, the capital city of Kurdistan, demanding to return them to the ranks of Peshmerga forces and ensure salaries for them after the Iraqi Ministry of Defense deducted it. These soldiers belong to regiment's 3 of Brigade 5 in Division 2 of the Iraqi army in the border province of Mosul. “They have expelled us from Brigade 5 in the Iraqi army since about six months ago and so far have not been transferred to staff of the Ministry of Peshmerga,” One of the demonstrators, Abbas Mohammed told media. He said that they had promised us to be transferred to the staff of the Ministry of Peshmerga, but so far this is not done, stressing that about six months have passed and so far has not implemented the decision.


Iraq's Kurdistan region to send investigative delegation amid Syrian Kurdish massacres

Erbil: Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has directed a group of representatives into neighboring Syrian Kurdistan to investigate news reports that al-Qaeda proxies are systematically attacking and massacring the civilian Kurdish population inside Syria. Massoud Barzani, President of Kurdistan region, in a letter posted online on Saturday announced that Kurdistan region would send a delegation to west of Kurdistan to verify the massacres of Kurds by terrorist groups affiliated with al-Qaida. This initiation was also accepted by the Kurdish National Conference preparation committee. Members of the delegation were expected to be chosen on Monday. In a letter addressed to a committee tasked with preparations to hold the national conference, due to begin on Aug. 24 in Erbil, Barzani demanded verification of media reports that Kurdish civilians are being systematically targeted by terrorist groups in Syria. "If the reports are true, showing that citizens, women and the children of innocent Kurds are under threat from murder and terrorism, Iraq's Kurdistan region will make use of all of its capabilities to defend women and children and innocent citizens," Barzani's letter said. PYD has been in confrontation with terrorist al-Nusra fighters affiliated with the al-Qaeda spearheading the insurgency against Kurds. The clashes between the groups in the Serê Kaniyê (Ras al-Ain) district of Hasekeh province, near Turkey's Ceylanpınar border gate, restarted on Monday with the end of Eid.

Shell for fishing explodes in Sulaimaniyah, Kurdistan

Slêmanî: A civil defense official in Slêmanî (Sulaimaniyah) province revealed on Tuesday, that two people were killed and seven others were wounded by a shell explosion in Sharpazer district in a house. “An explosion occurred inside one of the houses on Tuesday night, in Sharpazer district, when a family member messed with the shell, killing two people and wounding seven others from the family members, the house was completely destroyed,” The official said. A local official told "Khandan" site, that “one of the members of this family put highly explosive TNT inside cannon to use it later in fishing.
