The University in located in northern Iraq; in the
area commonly referred to as Kurdistan. This region
did not see any military action during the
liberation of Iraq and it offers a safe and secure
environment. AUI-S is currently housed in two
donated buildings while a new campus is being
constructed. The first building, a 24M USD
administration building, is currently under
construction with a completion date of December
2008.
Position 1:
Director of Finance
AUI-S is looking for a dynamic and adventurous
person to fill the important role of Director of
Finance. You will have the opportunity to build a
finance/accounting department from the ground floor
up. Under the direction of the Rektor, the Director
of Finance will be responsible for establishing
accounting services, general accounting, financial
systems administration, vendor and students
payables, payroll, treasury management, cash
receipts and financial management and reporting. You
will provide leadership in determining broad
policies of all institutional functions relating to
business and financial matters.
Minimum Qualifications:
• A baccalaureate degree in accounting/finance from
an accredited institution – masters/MBA and/or CPA
certification preferred.
• At least 7 years of experience in financial
accounting; with 5 years in a leadership role in a
higher education institution.
• Experience in formulating policies related to the
business functions .
• In-depth knowledge of financial planning, general
accounting and budget management.
• Experience with integrated higher education
software – ERP packages.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, team
building, problem solving, motivational and
analytical skills.
• Proven abilities in strategic planning, project
and budget management.
• Scholarly command in the English language
required. Ability to speak and read Kurdish and/or
Arabic will be considered a plus.

Accountant
AUI-S is looking for a dynamic and adventurous

assistance of the Director of Finance you will be
responsible for establishing accounting services,
general accounting, financial systems
administration, vendor and students payables,

financial management and reporting.

accounting, preferably in a higher education
institution or other agency that uses fund
accounting.

software.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, team
building, problem solving, motivational and
analytical skills.
• Scholarly command in the English language
required. Ability to speak and read Kurdish and/or
Arabic will be considered a plus.
